Kanepe (Google Play package digital.onur.seyir) is a TV show tracking app by Onur Şahin (developer name on Google Play: Onur Digital). This page explains what data the app processes and why. Last updated: 3 October 2026 (version 2: social features, Google sign-in, Wikipedia descriptions, on-device translation).

Account

Data kept on the server and visible only to you

The app does not read device IDs, the advertising ID, location, contacts or photos. There are no ads and no third-party analytics in the app. Your data is not sold.

Data other users may see (if you turn it on)

Social features are optional. Until you choose a username and accept the terms of use, none of your information is visible to other users (except the weekly league, below).

Social features can be switched off entirely on the server; while they are off none of the data in this section is shown.

Data shown only in aggregate

Reports and moderation

If you report content or a person, the content, the reason and any note you write are stored for moderation; the reported person is not told who reported them. Inappropriate text may be rejected by an automatic filter, content with enough reports is hidden and reviewed. Accounts that break the rules may be suspended; a suspended account's content is not shown.

Usage counters

To understand which features are used, the app reports some events to the server (e.g. a card being shared, the app being installed from a shared link). The server does not link them to your account, your device or your IP address; it keeps only an anonymous daily total per event name. Clicks on shared links are counted the same way.

TVmaze

Show, season, episode and schedule information comes directly from TVmaze. Your phone therefore connects to TVmaze on search and show pages and TVmaze sees the IP address of that connection; your watchlist is not sent to TVmaze, only the page you open is requested. TVmaze data is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. TVmaze privacy policy: tvmaze.com/site/privacy.

Wikipedia descriptions

A show's description comes from the Wikipedia article in your app language, if there is one. Our server, not your phone, fetches and caches the article; nothing about you is sent to Wikipedia. If you tap the article link, your browser opens Wikipedia. Wikipedia text is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0.

Discovery and recommendations

Discovery filters, similar shows and recommendations come from the server. When you ask for recommendations the IDs of the shows you follow and liked are sent; the server uses them only for that response and does not store them. Your device's country code may be sent for the popular list.

On-device translation

If a description is only available in English you can translate it on your phone. Translation is done on the phone with Google ML Kit; the translated text never leaves your phone. The language model (about 30 MB) is downloaded from Google on first use. ML Kit sends anonymous usage information to Google: the selected languages, device and app information, performance, the length of the text and error codes. The text itself is not sent. Translations are labelled "automatic translation" on screen.

Notifications

New-episode and daily-quiz reminders are scheduled locally on the phone. The server sends no notifications and collects no notification token. They can be turned off in Settings.
